I’m Perry Myers, proud owner of Pro Video Security.

I look forward to sharing my story. I hope that you will enjoy getting to know me better.

Back in 1959, my father, Stan Myers started the detective agency MSI Detective Services. I began working there in 1990 and eventually took over in business and day to day operations. In 2001, I started the business U-Spy Store and soon started the Pro Video Security segment of the company as I recognized the emerging trend in technical and electronic surveillance.

As a licensed private, I saw that an increasing number of people started using GPS for surveillance or HD cameras to guard or observe things. I saw this as an opportunity to use technology to improve our business areas and established Pro Video Security to fill the needs of our clients and move with the trends.

Today, the HD revolution has taken over the camera business as you can’t even purchase a camera that is not HD. Moreover, HD over coaxial has been a big boom to our industry as it has increased a camera’s picture quality. The resolution for cameras has increased exponentially compared to only a few years ago.

Apart from HD, everything moves faster as well, and customers want things done immediately. We try to move quickly, but sometimes customers don’t understand the limitations we face. For example, I had a client who wanted a pinhole camera that cannot be seen on a white wall, that is battery powered and can last for a couple of months. Obviously, technology is not there yet, and so far, all the camera lenses are black. So blending them into white paint is a significant challenge.

Fortunately for that client and many others, I love helping people, so we eventually figured out a solution. For me, seeing a customer resolve an issue or enhance their security is the best feeling. Everyone knows what vulnerability feels like and I enjoy fixing that with our expertise and technology.

More me, it’s “help first, invoice second!” I want to ensure that we help our customers before getting paid. Of course, we need money to operate, but that is secondary to the concerns of our clients.

As an individual, I believe what sets me apart from the others is my honesty, integrity, and transparency. Sometimes I lose customers or revenue because of my honesty. However, those customers will value our straightforward and clear-cut approach for the future. We are not here for the short term as we cherish our clients and want to keep them for years to come.

I believe our success has been attained primarily due to our hard work, smart work and keeping a cool head. Business owners know how difficult it is to balance everything - our employees, our customers, and our checkbook. Everything needs attention and care. Having a great team to help is very important, and luckily for me, we have the best!

Over the years, we have enjoyed several satisfying moments, but the best is when we catch bad guys. We once caught an armed robber using our HD cameras. The video of the vehicle lead to the capture of the suspects. While this is a recent event, we have also had video cases where we found employee theft.

One of the most memorable moments for me was when we secured a huge contract by proving to our customer that wireless cameras can work. We demonstrated how an IP camera can transmit from one end of a property to another from a distance of one mile. Other vendors told the client that they had to trench and install wiring underground which would cost hundreds of thousands of dollars. Once we demonstrated the technology, our customer signed up with us and has been ours for over five years. They loved the fact that we could save them money by using the power of technology.

When I am not at work, I love hockey, ice skating, and kayaking, but not at the same time. I also like biking and of course, the usual things like music, movies, traveling and good food. However, business is never far from my mind, even when playing.

I also love our planet and care genuinely about the environment and recycling. People at the office make fun of me because I am always pulling recyclable things from the trash and putting it into the recycling bin. I also care about health and try to inform people about the importance of eating healthy and staying fit. A healthy body leads to a healthy mind. The mind and body connection is so very essential. I also care about our vets, police and love our country. I always will say thank you to our brave soldiers and police who help keep us safe.

I have enjoyed sharing my story about the things which matter to me and how they influence the way I do business.
