Disadvantage is you don't see the visitor as there is no camera. Wiring must be in good working order for this to work. Requires a new lobby Intercom and new in-unit stations for each apartment/condo.

We use and recommend Doorbird (no added fees) for this as the other Butterfly mandates you to pay a monthly fee for them to maintain the unit. This is great if you have Internet already or plan to use for your security cameras.
Brand we use Not all manufacturers are created equal. Today, most video intercom manufacturers charge a monthly or yearly fee. ButterflyMX, Brivo, Liftmaster and other we install charge a subscription in order to provide you with HD video of your visitors and allow you to connect by an app. There are still a few manufcturers that don't however. DoorBird, Aiphone and Comelit are a few high quality manufacturers that don't charge a fee. DoorBird is manufactured in Germany and has been providing excellent quality intercom systems for our customers for many years. While the system is app based, they do offer a direct intercom to landline or flip phone option, without the video of course. Comelit and Aiphone also offer no charge options.
